“When we started conferencing in January 2014, only the best-informed delegates had heard of Fintech and those that had were inclined to dismiss it as a threat.” said Edward Peck co-founder of the IAFN network.

“How things have changed! Now many of the major finance providers are working with Fintechs to transform their offerings – and the best are setting up incubators and innovation labs to work out how to deal with the pain points in the car finance buying process. It’s time to recognise the contribution made by this end of the industry and to welcome them and their ideas to the awards table”.

Independent and authoritative

IAFN Awards are the industry’s only leading independent awards scheme to be judged by a star studded line-up of senior industry professionals, in a process that is watched over by impartial supervisors. This year the Finance and Leasing Association will check the process – comparing the winners against each individual judge’s votes to ensure that only the most innovative entries win through to the end.

The judging panel includes a range of senior industry professionals including David Betteley, Global Financial Services Director of Jaguar Land Rover, and Jonny Combe ‎General Manager, Product & Channel Development of BMW Financial Services. New to the panel this year is John Maslen, former editor of Fleet News. John joined the Asset Finance International editorial team this month, to help AFI transform its online and conference content so that it continues to reflect the industry as it transforms.

Fintech Innovator Award   NEW
Are you a fintech innovator with a vision for using technology to add value into auto finance? You do not need to have started your business (although you may have done), but you do have a vision for how technology could be used to add value to auto finance. It may be, for example, that you have thought of a great application for blockchain, or machine learning to make some aspect of the credit cycle more efficient. Or you may have an idea about how to use technology to better meet customer needs.

Best Professional Services Firm

Aimed at professional service firms serving the auto finance and/or fleet leasing market.

This award is open to professional services firms such as legal, accounting and management consulting firms that can demonstrate excellence in the delivery of services to the auto finance and/or fleet leasing market in the last 15 months. We are expecting to receive nominations that include details of new services that have been introduced, transactions that have been particularly successful, etc.

Intelligent Mobility Services

This award is designed to recognise the company that has introduced the best mobility innovation in the last two years.

‘Intelligent Mobility solutions’ are solutions that offer alternatives to (or complement) the company car e.g. car sharing, car clubs, more business use of public transport where available, etc. These reflect the desire by many companies to ensure that every journey is carried out in the most cost‐effective and environmentally friendly way.

Point Of Sale - Motor Finance

This award is designed to recognise the best point of sale innovation in motor finance or retail motor finance that has been introduced in the last two years.

This award is not open to innovations in the fleet finance space. We are expecting to see entries describing innovation in the sale of finance via dealers or direct over the internet.

Back Office Innovation Award

This award is designed to recognise the best back office innovation that has been introduced in the last two years. Most awards recognise client‐facing activity and innovation but for motor finance and fleet finance businesses it is their back office processes that can make the difference between being good and great.

Nominations may be for (but are not limited to) innovations that improve the management of credit risk, residual value risk, maintenance cost risk, accounting processes, collections, default management, supplier management and indeed any internal activity that is not directly related to the management of clients. We will accept nominations for in-house solutions developed by one company for their own internal use, as well as solutions developed by third parties (eg technology or data supply companies) for use more extensively in the industry.

Best Wholesale finance provider

This award is open to companies that provide debt finance to motor finance or fleet leasing companies. It is designed to recognise excellence in the delivery of any aspect of wholesale funding. So for example the winner might be the company that has done the biggest or most innovative deal, or has introduced better ways to serve its clients’ needs or has enhanced the quality of service pre‐ and post‐drawdown.

New Entrant

This award is designed to recognise the retail auto finance company, motor finance company, broker, fleet leasing company or supplier to any of these businesses that has entered the market in the last two years and has really made its mark. The company does not need to be a new business: entries will also be accepted from companies that have operated in other industries for more than two years and that have diversified into the auto finance/fleet finance sector in the last two years.

CEO of the Year

This award is designed to recognise the chief executive who has done most to support and promote the best interests of the industry. It is open to the CEO of any company in the sector.
