We are looking for a Credit Underwriter with experience in Asset Finance, and Block Funding/ Structured Finance to join a fast growing lender The candidate will be required to analyse and assess credit proposals received from a panel of Brokers and Business Development managers.
The job holder will be able to assess credit proposals within their delegated authority limit, make recommendations based on financial and non-financial performance and must be able to work to tight deadlines and adhere to a service levels and provide excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guide, manage and coach junior underwriters.
- Evaluate a customer’s credit data and financial statements in order to determine the degree of risk involved in lending to them using key financial ratios.
- Analyse affordability measures, financial crime risks and fraudulent applications.
- To assess and approve credit proposals within delegated authority and make Credit Management.
- Assess both Broker Introduced business and Structured Finance business against Policies and appetites.
- Assess loan book trends and make recommendations to improve the risks to the Bank.
- Review financial and non-financial covenants set or proposed for customers and provide recommendations.
- Provide industry regulatory support and understanding to the business in order to strengthen future frameworks.
- Produce reports on trends, volumes and data relating to applications to senior management.
- Reconcile credit files and identify discrepancies.
- To build and maintain flexible working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Adhere to credit policy, credit guidelines, service levels and his/her own delegated authority.
- Assist the COO in automation of credit process and decisioning where applicable.
The Candidate:
- Proven experience working in a credit role within the financial services industry or specific asset finance experience.
- Understand the relevant UK Regulatory requirements relating to the provision of credit facilities in these jurisdictions including KYC processes.
- In depth understanding of financial statements, ratios, and principles of lending.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential as this role will involve influencing at all levels.
- Knowledge of Block Discounting, purchase/assignment of receivables and wider Structured Finance products.
- Possibly have experience of leading a team, and representing the Credit Dept in meetings and at senior levels.
